They say that bacon makes everything better, and this Bacon Pecan Pie recipe is no exception. Every year, the Texas State Fair holds several baking contests. I originally discovered this Bacon Pecan Pie recipe from there. I was trying to find an award winning recipe to enter at our neighborhood pie baking contest. And I wanted something a bit unique and since we were also doing a BBQ competition, so I thought the savory & sweet pie was certainly a winner.
Not only is this recipe great for pie competitions, but pecan pie is a staple of most family holidays. Adding bacon to this classic dessert just takes it to a whole new level. It is literally one of the best pies on the planet! This pie is best served warm with a little vanilla ice cream on top. The sweet and salty flavors compliment each other perfectly. It will be hard for you to only eat once slice and even harder to share with others.
If you want to kick it up another notch, consider adding a shot of bourbon to the mixture. It’s the perfect trifecta of sweet, savory, and boozy!
