I remember as a little girl, there was a grocery store in my hometown called Veron’s. It had been around for decades. I used to always want to go there with my mom because the butcher at the meat counter would always give me a Lil’ Smokie to snack on while she shopped. It was just like when you used to go to the bank and the teller would give you Chicklets! Ahhh…the good old days! These Bacon-Wrapped Lil’ Smokies take those mini sausages up a notch. Wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar before cooking, you will get a savory and sweet treat that your friends and family will love.
This Bacon-Wrapped Lil’ Smokies recipe calls for you to cook them in the oven. But, you can also cook them on the grill, probably around 225°F, until the bacon is crisp. If you choose the grill, you’ll need to place them on a similar grilling tray that you would use to grill veggies so they don’t fall through the grates.
I always like to dip these in my Spicy Cajun BBQ Sauce for some added flavor.
